His background spans advanced threat detection, cyber defence architecture, and advisory roles. He is also co-founder of Threat Canary, an AI-powered cybersecurity platform, and has led security operations and offensive security assessments for banks and critical public-sector systems. His open-source security tools ship in Kali Linux, and his research has been cited in over a hundred academic publications, including proceedings of USENIX Security, ACM CCS, and IEEE S&P. He is a New Zealand citizen based in Australia.
Josh is an MIT-educated applied artificial intelligence specialist with extensive experience delivering enterprise-grade AI across both tier-one global banks and agile financial institutions. His work spans the implementation of AI capabilities across risk, compliance, operations, and customer intelligence, with a strong emphasis on governance, auditability, and regulatory alignment. He completed a postgraduate fellowship in systems biology at Harvard Medical School and is a recipient of the Quest AI Award for Artificial Intelligence research. Josh has led and advised research initiatives at Yale University and the University of Cambridge, applying a rigorous systems-engineering approach to complex, high-stakes environments. He serves as an advisor to the MIT Media Lab and MIT’s Engineering Innovation Group, as well as the Diagnostics Accelerator at Harvard Medical School, and is a UNESCO Peace Fellow. Steven Sprague is a seasoned technology executive, entrepreneur, and board director with decades of experience across enterprise computing, trusted systems, cybersecurity, and advanced digital infrastructure. Globally recognised as a leading expert at the very edge of trusted computing and emerging technologies, he is also Co-founder and CEO of Rivetz Corp. His work has driven the development and adoption of trusted computing and Trusted Execution Environment technologies that strengthen device security, digital identity, encryption, and the protection of private keys across blockchain, IoT, messaging, and cryptocurrency applications. A Cornell University Mechanical Engineering graduate, he brings the Board deep technical expertise, commercial insight, and extensive experience at the intersection of cybersecurity, infrastructure, and emerging technology.
